Add the device it was made for

Automatic 10% It comes off this ampoule in the cart when the device is with it. No code to enter.

    The issue

The mark fades. Then it comes back in the same place.

Uneven tone, and the patch that darkens again every summer. It is color rather than texture.

01 Where the color actually starts

Pigment is not made on the surface. It is made near the base of the epidermis, by melanocytes, on instruction. That is below where most of what you apply ever reaches.

    Where it is made

WHERE PIGMENT IS MADE UV signal
    1. MelanocyteSits at the base of the epidermis and makes the pigment
    2. The cells aboveTake the pigment and carry it upward
Schematic and not to anatomical scale. It draws where pigment is made and where the instruction to make it comes from. It is a picture of ordinary skin, not of any condition.

    Why it shows late

THE RIDE UP SURFACE BASE WEEKS
    1. Made at the baseWeeks before anything is visible on top
    2. Seen at the surfaceAnd gone only when that cell sheds
The pigment does not sit on the surface waiting to be lifted off. It rides the cell that carries it. That is why working only on the top reaches skin that was already on its way off.

    5%

How much tranexamic acid is in this vial

50,000 ppm on the manufacturer's composition sheet, with niacinamide beside it at 2 percent. Most labels print the ingredient and leave the number out. Two actives at working levels is unusual in a formula already built around one of them.

02 What we put in, and why those two

Tranexamic acid, 5 percent. It is understood to act on the signalling that drives excess melanin rather than on pigment already formed. Niacinamide at 2 percent sits alongside it.

    Then the honest part

Five percent is a solubility ceiling rather than a marketing choice. Past roughly that point the acid stops dissolving and starts forming crystals in the vial. So it is the limit of what will stay in solution, not a statement about how much anybody needs, and a concentration is not a promise.

Composition as declared by the manufacturer. A cosmetic product for external use only, not a drug, and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Read the full laboratory record

    The depth system

One dial. Three payloads. Three places to put them.

The whole line is arranged on a single axis. Choose the depth and the ampoule follows, because each one is formulated for the layer that setting reaches.

The axis is the device's real range, 0.5 to 1.5 mm. The skin layers beside it are drawn schematically for reading, not to anatomical scale, and depth needed varies between people.

    Every figure, sourced

What is actually in the vial.

The full composition, quoted from the manufacturer's statement rather than the carton. Concentrations, carriers, preservation and pH, in one place.

    The active

    Tranexamic Acid

re:clear-T ComplexTranexamic acid, carried alongside niacinamide.

The active the vial is named for, at the level printed on the carton and on the manufacturer's composition sheet.

    Also in the vial

    1. Niacinamide 20,000 ppm

The other active in this vial. A form of vitamin B3, associated with oil regulation and with supporting the skin barrier.

      EvensConditions

    2. Sodium Hyaluronate 4,000 ppm

The salt form of hyaluronic acid. Known for holding water in the upper layers, and it is what carries the water phase here.

      Hydrates

    3. Ascorbic Acid 100 ppm

Pure L-ascorbic acid, at trace. An antioxidant safeguard for the formula rather than a tone active, and no claim rests on it.

      Conditions

    4. Glutathione trace

A tripeptide, present at trace. Listed for completeness.

      Conditions

    5. 1,2-Hexanediol · Caprylyl Glycol 5,900 ppm

The preservation system, kept small by the sealed single-fill format.

      Preserves

Formulated at pH 6.0, a specification with a tolerance that every batch is measured against. Percentages come from the manufacturer's composition sheet for this ampoule. Molecules are drawn to the real skeleton of each ingredient and are illustrations, not structural formulae. Ingredient functions are those the composition sheet assigns; nothing here is a claim about a result.

    Fill and format

    1. Fill and seal

Filled under low oxygen, then crimp-sealed

The ascorbic acid in this vial browns on contact with air. So the fill happens under low oxygen and the cap is crimped, not screwed. The sealed vial is a consequence of the formula rather than a styling choice. You break the seal once, on the day you start it.

    2. 0ppm

      Fragrance

      No added fragrance

Nothing in this vial is there for scent. Of the three ampoules only 01 Pore carries added fragrance, at 100 ppm.

    Full ingredient list

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Tranexamic Acid, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ascorbic Acid, Limonene, Fragrance, Glutathione

Read from the manufacturer's ingredient statement for this ampoule, in descending order of weight. Trace ingredients are named but not quantified.

    Getting it out

    The seal is never broken.

The crimp stays on. The dropper pushes through a rubber seal in the middle of the cap and draws a dose. The cap itself never comes off.

The re:tones plastic syringe, which passes through the vial's rubber septum to draw a dose
    1. 01
      The cap stays on

An aluminum crimp with a rubber septum under it. It is not a lid and it does not come off in normal use.

    2. 02
      The dropper passes through

The blunt plastic tip goes through the septum and the rubber closes behind it. Nothing else goes in with it.

    3. 03
      Air and fingers stay out

A pump pulls room air back in on every press. A bottle you unscrew meets your hands. This one meets neither.

    4. 04
      If the seal resists

We made it tough on purpose, for hygiene. If the syringe will not pass, pierce the rubber at the opening with something sharp.

Each ampoule ships with a 1 mL syringe. The dropper goes through the rubber seal in the cap. The cap never comes off, so the liquid never meets the air.

    Loading it

From the vial into the cartridge.

The applicator ships in the box with the vial. Three moves, and the cartridge is loaded.

    1. Two hands pulling the gray protective cover off the tip of the re:tones ampoule applicator

      Take the cover off.

Pull the gray cover straight off the tip. Hold the barrel, not the plunger.

    2. The applicator tip pressed through the rubber seal at the center of the vial's aluminum crimp cap

Push it through the seal, then draw.

Press the tip against the rubber seal in the middle of the cap until it goes through. Then pull the plunger back and draw the ampoule up into the barrel. The seal is tough on purpose, for hygiene. If the syringe will not make a hole, pierce it first with something sharp.

    3. The filled applicator being pushed into the clear re:tones cartridge

      Seat it in the cartridge.

Push the filled applicator into the clear cartridge until it seats. That is the part that goes on the device.

The applicator draws from the vial and fills the cartridge. Nothing here is injected. You are putting this on skin that has just been opened, which is the reason the cap is crimped rather than screwed. How the seal works

    Provenance

You can check every line of this.

Most brands ask you to take the quality on trust. These are the things you can hold up to the light instead.

    • Made Researched, engineered and filled in South Korea. The device and the ampoules were developed together, not sourced separately.
    • Printed on your carton Batch number and period-after-opening, on every single one.
    • Published Every formulation figure comes from the manufacturer's ingredient statement and is printed as written, including the unremarkable ones.
    • Sold Direct from re-tones.com only. Not on marketplaces, not through resellers. If you did not buy it here, we cannot tell you what is in it.

If any line here stops being true we take it down rather than rewording it.

    Before you buy.

The questions we actually get, answered without a sales pitch.

Not your question? Write to us at support@re-tones.com

Do I need the device, or does this work on its own?

It works on its own the way any serum does, which is the problem this brand exists to talk about. The formula was built for a barrier that has just been opened, so the device is what it was designed around. You can buy either first.

Is it cheaper to buy it with the device?

Yes. Put both in the cart and 10% comes off the ampoule automatically. Nothing to type at checkout.

How long does one vial last?

That depends on how much you use and how often, so we are not going to give you a number we cannot stand behind. It is 50 mL, which is large for an ampoule, and the recommended cadence with the device is once a week.

Is it safe to use this concentration at home?

It is a cosmetic product formulated for home use, not a professional-only formula. Patch test on a small area first, and if your skin reacts to something, stop using it. Nothing here treats a medical condition.

Can I use it with my other actives?

Leave retinoids and exfoliating acids out of the same session. Give the skin the night, and go back to your normal routine after.

What if it does not suit me?

Thirty days, unopened. If it arrives faulty we pay the return shipping.

      Dark spots fading like magic

I've had stubborn hyperpigmentation on my cheeks for years from old acne and sun damage. After 4 weeks with the TXA5 vial my dark spots have visibly faded — I'm talking shades lighter. I pair it with the MTS device once a week and use it as a serum on other days. My skin tone is so much more even now. Was genuinely surprised how fast the results showed. The tranexamic acid approach makes sense — it targets the root cause instead of just bleaching the surface.

    • skintone.sophie

Even skin tone for the first time

My skin tone has always been patchy and uneven. Nothing worked — not vitamin C serums, not AHAs, nothing. This is the first product that actually evened everything out. The 5% tranexamic acid is the real deal. My complexion looks uniform and bright. I literally stopped using color-correcting primer. So happy I found this.

    • MelasmaWarrior

      Finally something that addresses melasma

I've struggled with melasma for 5 years and spent hundreds on treatments. This $39 vial has done more than any of them. The tranexamic acid works upstream on the melanin signaling which is exactly what melasma needs — not exfoliation, not bleaching. After 6 weeks my patches are significantly lighter. I use it with the MTS device at 0.75mm and the combination is powerful. The sealed glass vial keeps the formula stable. Cannot recommend enough.

    • alex.j.kim

      Solid brightening serum

Noticeable improvement in my skin brightness after about 3 weeks. Dark spots from old breakouts are fading. The glass vial packaging is premium. Would have liked to see faster results but they're definitely there.

    • GlowFromWithin

      My complexion is GLOWING

People keep asking if I got a facial or changed my foundation. Nope — it's this serum. My skin is brighter, more even, and has this healthy glow I've never had before. The dark patches on my forehead from sun damage are fading fast. I was so surprised by how well this works. The no-fragrance formula is a huge plus for my sensitive skin.

    • derm.diana

      Smart formulation

As someone who researches ingredients obsessively, this formula is impressive. Tranexamic acid at 5% (its solubility max — not a random marketing number), niacinamide at 2% for pigment transfer support, glutathione for conditioning, and ascorbic acid protected from oxidation by the sealed vial. The science is sound and the results are real. My hyperpigmentation has improved dramatically in 5 weeks.

    • SunDamageNo More

      Sun spots are GONE

I'm 42 and had sun spots on my cheeks and forehead from years of not wearing sunscreen in my 20s. After 2 months of consistent use they are almost completely gone. I was shocked honestly. This doesn't bleach or exfoliate — it actually stops the excess melanin production. My skin looks 10 years younger. Best skincare discovery of my life.

    • jennny.t

      Bright and even!

Dark spots fading, skin tone evening out, overall complexion just looks healthier and brighter. Love the sealed vial — feels like you're getting something medical-grade. No irritation at all. Amazing product.

    • PatchFree_Pete

      Impressed with the results

Had some stubborn dark patches on my jawline. After about a month of using this they're noticeably lighter. The formula is gentle — no stinging or peeling. Good ingredient transparency too. Taking off one star only because I wish it came in a bigger size since I go through it quick.

    • radiance.rae

      Goodbye color corrector

I used to spend 10 minutes every morning color-correcting the dark spots on my cheeks. Now I just put on moisturizer and sunscreen and walk out the door. This vial changed my skin completely. My tone is even, my dark spots faded dramatically, and my overall complexion is bright and healthy. Was surprised it worked without any irritation or peeling — the tranexamic acid approach is so much gentler than acids or retinol. Worth every penny.

    • clearpath_chris

      The ingredient transparency sold me

Every concentration listed. 5% tranexamic acid, 2% niacinamide, exact ppm for everything else. No hiding behind proprietary blends. And it WORKS. My hyperpigmentation improved more in 4 weeks than it did with a year of other products. The sealed vial with the glass dropper keeps everything potent. This brand gets it right.

    • LuminousSkin_L

      Skin transformation is real

Before and afters don't lie. My skin went from patchy and dull to bright and even in about 6 weeks. The dark spots from years of acne scarring are fading beautifully. I use it with the MTS device weekly and as a standalone serum in between. The combination of tranexamic acid and niacinamide targets discoloration from multiple angles. My skin has never looked this luminous. Genuinely surprised by how dramatic the improvement was.
